2015 Elections: Obasanjo moves to save face, asks president to change vice

Following the recent attack on President Jonathan by former president Obasanjo, media houses are reporting that the ex-president has a hidden motive for attacking the president who many still believe is the proverbial “God son” of Mr Obasanjo.

Mr. Obasanjo has taken every chance he has gotten with media coverage to throw boulders at the president and his administration and reports filtering through claim to have revealed Mr. Obasanjo’s motive.

The said reports claim that should the president bow to pressure, and agree to drop his vice, Arc. Namadi Sambo, and replace him with Jigawa State governor Sule Lamido who is also a God son of the ex-president,  Obasanjo will be back in the president’s court.

This revelation may have been one of the things that prompted Human rights activist Mike Ozehkome state in an interview with Saturday Vanguard that “Obasanjo is determined to split Nigeria”.

In that interview, Mr Ozehkome went on to question Obasanjo’s motive and the right he earned to speak in the manner.

“Was it not during his time that Ghana Must Go bags where seen being physically carried from House of one legislator to another either to remove an existing Senate President or to perpetuate his third-term agenda” Ozehkome said.

This is not the first time that its being speculated that, the ex-president wants to still be the one calling the shots in Aso Rock as he must have hoped to do when he grudgingly left office following the collapse of his third term agenda.

Almost a year after Mr. Obasanjo’s now infamous letter to the president, the retired general hasn’t given up his knack for telling president how he should lead the country.

The reports go on to suggest that the president is not likely to give in to Mr. Obasanjo’s demands to avoid a pitfall this close to elections.
