Another High Ranking Northern Senator Dumps The ‘Dying’ APC, With Immediate Effect, Begins Protest

Senator Sani Mustapha Mohammed, representing Niger South, has resigned from the All Progressives Congress, APC, in protest.

Mohammed is said to be angered by the decision of the ruling party to drop his name from the list of Candidates cleared for the 2019 general elections.

This came a few days after Shehu Sani, the Senator representing Kaduna Central, also resigned from the party in protest, on Saturday, over the removal of his name from the final list.

Confirming his decision to leave the party, Mohammed said that he is leaving APC, “because of injustice”.

He did not reveal the party he would be moving to, despite speculations that he would join the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

All the three Niger Senators, namely Mohammed, David Umar, and Senate Spokesman, Aliyu Abdullahi, had been cleared on the list, dated October 4, 2018, and signed by Adams Oshiomhole, the party’s National Chairman.

However, Mohammed was replaced with Muhammad Bima Enagi, while the two others were cleared.

The primary elections ended in controversy.

APC’s primaries were dogged by controversies nationwide, with 15 Governors now said to be moving for the removal of Oshiomhole as National Chairman.
