APC Crisis Takes A New Dimension, As 3 Powerful Governors Storm President Buhari’s Office

President Muhammadu Buhari, on Sunday, met behind closed-doors with three State Governors from the South-West.

The Governors are Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State, Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State, and Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State. They are all members of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.

The meeting was held inside President Buhari’s residence, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

It was one of the efforts being made by President Muhammadu Buhari, to resolve the crisis that followed the primary elections of the APC across the country.

Recall, that some State Governors, including Amosun and Akeredolu, had been at loggerheads with the National Chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole, over the manner in which the primary elections were conducted in their States.

The Presidency, was yet to issue a statement on the meeting of the three Governors with the President, as at the time of filing in this report.

The Governors, however, told the Nigerian Television Authority, NTA, that they were at the Presidential Villa, to assure Buhari of their continued support, ahead of the 2019 Presidential election.

Akeredolu disclosed that apart from assuring the President of their support, they also seized the opportunity of the meeting to “talk on some issues, and put our feet on the ground on the issues.”

He stated that although the Governorship election would not hold in his State, in 2019, he would work to ensure victory for the APC, in other elections.

Amosun and Fayemi also expressed confidence that Buhari would win the 2019 Presidential election.
