DSS Set To Arrest Pat Utomi, Charles Soludo, Barth Nnaji, Others, For Emerging As Ministers Of The Federal Republic Of Biafra

Speculations making the round, indicate that the Department of State Security Services, DSS, may arrest a group of of ex-Ministers and some prominent Nigerians, over their ties to a Biafran secessionist movement.

The alleged report has it that the DSS will be sending out invitations to these ex-Ministers for questioning, following the announcement of these ex-Ministers as cabinet members of self acclaimed Biafra Republic.

At the time of filing in this report, Post-Nigeria was not able to independently confirm the report, as the DSS does not have any official Spokesperson, to contact for clarification.

However, Post-Nigeria had last Monday, reported that the secession group had announced the formation of an Interim Government for the Republic of Biafra, with the leader of the group, Barrister Benjamin Onwuka, as ‘President’.

Some of the prominent individuals listed as Ministers at the press conference held in Enugu, include former Minister of Information, Jerry Gana, former Minister for power, Barth Nnaji, and former Information Minister, Labaran Maku.

The pro-Biafra organisation also named Chukwuma Soludo, as Governor of the Central Bank of Biafra, CBB, Prof. Pat Utomi, as Foreign Affairs Minister; and Mrs Aruma Oteh, as Minister of Finance.

Among all the people mentioned, only Labaran Maku, has officially disassociated himself from the purported appointment.

A top source told the Nation Newspaper: “Respected citizens such as these should not in any way be associated with acts of treason. Assuming that it was inadvertently or mischievously done, they have a duty to themselves and the nation, to renounce such association. In this particular instance, we are worried about the deafening silence on the part of these respected citizens. What do they lose by renouncing their listing by the secessionists?”

He revealed that the DSS would wait for a “respectable period”, before moving against any of them.

The source added: “If the silence persists, we reserve the right to read meaning into it, and that could lead to the law taking its course. We will not condone any act of treason anymore in this country. We have had enough of secessionist agitations under any guise.”
