Senate In Confusion As Buhari’s Ministers Abscond Out Of The Country With The 2018 Budget, Until Further Notice

The Senate has raised an alarm that some President Muhammadu Buhari’s Ministers are holding the country to ransom, by refusing to come before the National Assembly and defend the 2018 budget, without which it cannot be passed.

This was raised by the Red Chamber during its Wednesday plenary.

Post-Nigeria recalls that on Tuesday, November 7, 2017, Buhari had presented the 2018 budget to a joint session of the National Assembly.

As at Wednesday, February 27, 2018, the National Assembly was yet to pass the budget submitted by Buhari.

However, during the plenary today, the Hallowed Chamber drew the attention of Nigerians, that the 2018 budget was yet to be passed, because some Ministers travelled out of the country and are yet to defend their budgets.

“We cannot pass the budget. The Ministers that are supposed to defend their budgets are out of the country. Anytime we call them, they will say that they are travelling out of the country”, a Senator said.

The Senate finally concluded that the Ministers involved will not be allowed to hold the nation in ransom.

The plenary was still ongoing at the time of submitting this report.
