BREAKING: Shouts Of Victory, As Supreme Court Delivers Judgement On The Disqualification Of Gov. Fayemi

The Governorship election of John Kayode Fayemi of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ekiti State, has been upheld by the Supreme Court.

In a unanimous judgment by a five-man panel, on Wednesday, the apex court held that the appeal by Segun Oni, a former Governor of the State, was statute barred.

In the lead judgement, Justice Amiru Sanusi held that the case, being a pre-election one, was not commenced at the trial court within the required time, as stipulated under the Forth Alteration Act.

Recall, that Oni had appealed the judgment of the Court of Appeal, which upheld the decision of a Federal High Court, to the effect that his (Oni) challenge of Fayemi’s eligibility to contest the last Governorship election in the State, was without merit.
