Tension in Aso Rock As Buhari Abandons Official Duties, Summons Emergency Meeting

President Muhammadu Buhari, has abandoned his official duties in the Presidential Villa, and summoned an emergency meeting, after news filtered in, that thousands of Lawyers have taken over parts of Abuja, in protest of the alleged continued disobedience of court orders, by the Department of State Security Service, DSS, Post-Nigeria gathered.

The Lawyers, supported by members of the Civil Society Community, had on Monday, earlier stormed the Federal High Court Headquarters, in Maitama, the Attorney General’s office, and the Headquarters of the National Human Rights Commission, NHRC, before heading to the Presidential Villa.

“Currently, major roads have been barricaded, and there is palpable tension, as the protesters met heavy resistance from Security Agents, who are blocking the protesters, who are insisting on marching into Aso Rock,” a witness said.

When Post-Nigeria’s correspondent contacted the Presidential Spokesman, Femi Adesina, via phone to comment on the protest, he said: “Please my brother, I cannot speak for the protesters, but one thing is sure, that the President will soon meet stakeholders over the issue.’’

He however, refused to answer further questions on the issue.

The protesting Lawyers, say Judges must not step down from cases involving the DSS, as that would amount to victory for tyranny and intimidation.

They are also demanding that all Judiciary workers to go on strike, until the DSS obeys all pending judgments.
