The Unstoppable Atiku Abubakar Fights Back, As President Buhari Begins Massive Clampdown On 2019 Presidential Aspirants

Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, through Intels Nigeria Limited, INL, has kicked against the termination of its Pilotage Agency Agreement, by the Nigeria Ports Authority, NPA.

President Muhammadu Buhari had approved the recommendations of the Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, breaking the near-monopoly of Intels, in the handling of oil and gas cargoes in the country.

On September 27, Mr. Malami, wrote to the Managing Director of NPA, Hadiza Bala-Usman, directing her to terminate the boat pilotage monitoring and supervision agreement that the agency had with Intels, saying that the contract was illegal.

Post-Nigeria recalls that the former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, had claimed that Buhari cancelled the contract Atiku had with NPA, because he will contest against him in 2019.

Before now, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, allegedly acting under the instruction of Buhari, had arrested two Commissioners.

The arrest came on the same day their boss, Ayodele Fayose, officially declared to run for the 2019 Presidency, in Abuja.

Intels in a statement, disclosed that following the letter from Malami, directing NPA to terminate the Pilotage agreement, NPA promptly ended the contract on October 10, without inviting it as the other party to the agreement for negotiation.

It also alleged that NPA acted without due recourse to the terms of the agreement that specifies conditions precedent before a party can exit the contract.
