Buhari cannot fight corruption under a democracy – Gen. Oladipo Diya

General Oladipo Diya, a former Vice-President under the Sani Abacha regime, has stated that he anticipates a difficult battle ahead for President–elect General Muhammadu Buhari in the fight against corruption as he would have to operate in a democratic setting this time around.

Diya also said Buhari and Vice–Presiedent–elect Professor Yemi Osinbajo, need God to be able to tackle corruption in Nigeria without being frustrated.

He spoke of working with Buhari during Military regimes saying, “I have worked under him as a Military Governor when he was the Head of State and the Commander-in-Chief of the Nigeria Armed Forces.

“And when I was Nigeria’s military Vice-President or Chief of General Staff then and we appointed him as the Chairman of the Petroleum Trust Fund, PTF, he gave us conditions before accepting the offer, to work independently and not be under the control of anybody and we accepted.
