Buhari reveals hand, willing to pardon corrupt associates

The All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential candidate, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari has said that he will pardon and not prosecute past corrupt leaders accused of corruption if elected.

The ex-dictator whose anti-corruption stance many thought was a mere window dressing made the above statement on Wednesday in a rally in Kaduna State as part of his wrap up campaign in the North West region ahead of the forthcoming general election.

He reiterated that he would pardon those indicted of corruption between 1999 to the time of his swearing in if elected.

“I am going to draw a line, anybody who involves himself in corruption after I assume office will face the music,” he said.

Speculation suggests that Buhari may not fight corruption because neither he nor his campaign financiers have the moral right to do so.

Investigations reveal that the former Dictator was forced into making the statement, following increased pressure from the public, for him to make an official statement concerning the video expose on Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The APC believes that if Gen. Muhammadu Buhari can soften his outward convictions on corruption, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu can hope for a safe landing if he (Buhari) enters office and fails to probe the lion of Bourdillon.

Buhari’s anti-corruption stand has been labeled as a mere window dressing, considering the caliber of supporters and sponsors who through their ill-gotten wealth are funding his campaign.

If the general further reacts in like manner to the controversy trailing his number one benefactor in the APC, it will go a long way to convincing his skeptics that indeed he himself is a corrupt politician.
