Buhari snubs Audu’s campaign

President Muhammadu Buhari was absent at the first campaign to showcase the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Abubakar Audu ahead of the November 21 Kogi election.

Buhari who has been allegedly dodging Audu, his party’s flag bearer owing to the corruption case hanging on him, failed to appear at the flag off campaign at the State capital, Lokoja.

The campaign was scheduled for much earlier but shifted to today, Saturday, October 31 to ensure Buhari’s attendance whose presence would serve as a boost to the victory of the APC candidate.

Buhari had just returned from an official four-days working visit to New Delhi India, where he attended the 3rd India-Africa Forum Summit.

Earlier efforts were made by the party’s high command to prevent the Prince from emerging the APC flag bearer.

His victory at the primaries has therefore been a subject of controversy in the party with top members kicking against his candidature.

The former Governor has been accused of corruption and currently has a N11bn corruption case he is still embroiled in. In addition, his son, Mustapha Audu and his wife, Zahrah Audu were arrested in 2013 over a property scam to the tune of N18million in 2003.

The symbol of the APC- the party’s flag was however presented to the Prince by the party’s chairman, John Oyegun

Meanwhile, the campaign was attended by the Chairman of the APC governor’s forum and Imo Governor, Rochas Okorocha, former Kano Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso alongside other Governors and Deputy Governors including top ranking members of the APC were also present.
