‘But APC Promised Us 24-Hours Uninterrupted Light’ – Angry Nigerian Youths Explode In Lagos, Attack Governor Ambode, For Donating Generators To Police

The Lagos State Government, thought it was announcing another achievement by Akinwumi Ambode, the Executive Governor of the State, when it took to Twitter, on Monday, to announce the donation of 120 units of 5KVA generators to the State Police.

“Ambode hands over 120 5KVA generators to Lagos Police Command, to power all Police formations across the State.”

However, instead of praise and commendation, some angry Nigerians bashed the All Progressives Congress-led, APC, State and Federal Government, for going public with such gesture, instead of working towards a regular and stable power supply as promised during the election campaign.

Post-Nigeria recalls, that during the campaigns for the 2015 general elections, the APC had promised that there would be a massive improvement in the energy sector, but that promise, like many others by the party, has remained unfulfilled for more than two years into the President Muhammadu Buhari administration.

Here are a few of the reactions:

“You people should be ashamed. A government like yours is producing that generators”, someone said.

Another person added: “Crazy people… An affirmation that the @APCNigeria will never solve the epileptic power problem in the country… All talk, no action!”

“So, we should start clapping because he provided generators to Police posts… What of the electricity that was promised,” another stated.

“More depletion of the ozone layer, more air and noise pollution. You could have gone green with solar/wind system.”

Also reacting: “If Lagos State Governor can donate 120 5kva generator to @PoliceNG, that means no hope for steady power in Nigeria; shame to you politicians.”

“Unbelievable!!! What a statement, but sadly it’s all about failure. Has Ambode ever considered the impact of these generators to the environment? We only sign international treaties, but do not to act on them.”

Another source added: “Why not solar power. They will come back n say they don’t have money for fuel. This is not a welcome development. Someone is not thinking.”

“What happened to solar system? That would have been the perfect thing to do. Those generators won’t last more than 2 years before parking up.”

Who do you want as Nigeria's 2019 President???

“From the absurd to the ridiculous. This is more like a celebration of failure to provide power promised Nigerians during the election.”

A Twitter user said: “Are you guys serious? Generators with all the noise of climate change & ozone layer depletion! Weldone Sir.”

“Ask for these generators in the next one year. The answer will shock you. Whatever happened to Fash and his magic power wand!!”
