Crack in APC as party suspends Lawmaker

The All Progressives Congress, APC, chapter in Kebbi State has issued an indefinite suspension to a member of the House of Assembly, Honourable Sani Idris Umar, from Zuru Constituency over alleged insubordination and disrespect.

The Publicity Secretary of the APC chapter, Alhaji Sani Dododo, disclosed this to reporters at the state capital, Birnin-Kebbi explaining that the suspension became necessary after the lawmaker was allegedly found guilty of insubordination and disrespect to the Deputy Governor, Samaila Yombe.

According to Dododo, a member of the APC Central Working Committee, CWC, Honourable Umar’s suspension was sequel to an earlier report of the Zuru Local Government Executive Committee, stressing that the party does not accommodate disrespect to leaders and elders.

Dododo said, “The party will not condone indiscipline and disrespect to leaders and duly constituted authority.”

The suspension would enable the CWC to investigate the allegations against the lawmaker as revealed by the Publicity Secretary.

However, in his reaction, the Zuru lawmaker dismissed the allegations describing it as false and unfounded as he vows “to face any genuine action and decision of the party after fair hearing.”

“The role I played in calling for a review of the selection of councilors may have attracted negative understanding from others after I had advocated for a spread in the selection of councilors.” He said

Idris noted that he would comply with the suspension, until the conclusion of the investigation as his activities in the legislature have been misconstrued.

On February 14, the state government removed Alhaji Umau Marafa, the village head of Babban Dutsi in Birnin Kebbi local government area of the state for abusing the Governor, Abubakar Atiku Bagudu.

The village head was removed for allegedly accusing the state governor of not providing the right leadership.
