EDITOR’S DESK: Sallah Day 800 Meters Walk!!! President Buhari, The Entire APC, A Bloody National Disgrace, by Salisu Abdulai

Dear APC and the entire Buhari Presidency,

In the past two to three days, there has been so much talk in the Media, about President Muhammadu Buhari walking an 800 meters long distance, to say hello to waiting fans, during the Sallah celebrations.

While I may not specifically have a problem with this act of personal gesture of the President, I am however forced to ask why a President, a failing one at that, walking an 800 meters distance, or even a 1 mile distance, should be an issue you would decide to run to the media to trumpet, when the people which you lead are dying everyday, either from hunger and hardship, or are being killed by the deadly Fulani herdsmen, and boko haram insurgents???

Whose idea was it, that President Buhari walking for 800 meters will be a great news that would brighten up the faces of Nigerians that have lost their jobs, suffering in their businesses, lost their accommodations, dropped out of schools, lost their children and loved ones to death, for lack of money to pay medical bills, lost their homes, and so on; who thought about this, who????

I think it is high time the Presidential Aides, Garba Shehu and Femi Adesina, told the President the truth, since he appears to be locked out from the realities on ground, obviously.

Tell President Buhari the truth!!! Tell him that he has suffered very great backlash, which would seriously work against him in the 2019 elections, from that very singular and most shameful act of making his walking an 800 meters distance, a bloody achievement you decided to shamelessly sing to the world. Tell him that when he left the country recently on his 10-day vacation, Nigerians did not want him to come back. Tell him that Nigerians rejoiced that there was peace in the country for those two weeks he was away, that there was no blood shed, that SARS was overhauled with immediate effect, and Nigerians were beginning to find hope in his Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, who acted on his behalf for the few days. Tell him that Nigerians are suffering, since he does not seem to know. Tell him that Nigerians do not care about the one-sided fight against corruption anymore. Tell him that Nigerians are dying of starvation. Tell him that millions of Nigerians have lost their jobs. Tell him that there has been no improvement in roads and infrastructure for more than three years now. Tell him that the price of fuel is still N145, as against whatever cheaper price than N87, he promised. Tell him that the dollar is still sitting at N360, against the N1 he promised. Tell him that boko haram has not been technically defeated; that Lai Mohammed lied to him and the world. Tell him the unemployed Nigerian youths never got their monthly alerts of the N5,000 he promised, for more than 3 years now. Tell him that the economy is the worst now. Tell him to ask his party to leave Bukola Saraki alone, and that Saraki is getting really popular and loved by Nigerians by the day, because of the recent happenings. Tell the President the real truth, and stop lying and deceiving him.

In a country where her suffering citizens are waiting eagerly to hear of new policies the government has put in place, new implementations that would better the lives of her citizens, create job opportunities, empower the youths, create free and affordable healthcare, good roads, free and quality education, affordable housing, cheap food, security, and so on, you dare take it upon yourself to make viral news of a failing President walking an 800 meters distance. Was he elected to be the next Usain Bolt?

In conclusion, just for clarity sake, what Nigerians mean when they say the President is too old and not fit, they actually mean mentally fit, and not really physically fit; primarily, mentally fit, because a mentally fit person can always deliver policies that can change a nation for the best, even though they may not be all the way physically fit!!!

Thank you.
