Electoral shift, no restriction of movement – IG Police

The Inspector General of Police, Mr. Sulieman Abba, has disclosed that there will not be any form of restriction on movement today except for places where elections are expected to hold today Sunday March 29.

Abba made this known on Sunday during an interview on the Channels Television programme “Nigera2015”.

Speaking, on issues regarding restriction of movement, Abba noted that there was freedom of movement in most places except in cases where the polls that spilled over from yesterday had to take place.

He said “There is no restriction on movement except for places where election would hold today”

He further urged Nigerians to go about their normal business lawfully, adding that the force will not hesitate to apprehend any one or group who tries to foment violence.

On the issue of a Divisional Police Officer, DPO, in Niger State who was alleged to have snatched ballot papers, the IG said the Force would investigate and take legal action on any Policeman who went beyond his duty.

He said, “All incidents of Policemen going beyond their duty will be investigated and if found guilty, will be punished”

He further used the medium to call on Nigerians not to accompany their family members to voting points today except they had not yet voted.
