Eligible voters should not be disenfranchised – PDP

Vice-President Namadi Sambo has said that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, as a party, holds the major concern of ensuring that no eligible voter is disenfranchised in the forthcoming general elections.

Namadi Sambo also clarified that the PDP was not scared of the use of card readers by the Independent National Electoral Commission for the elections.

Sambo, as quoted by his spokesman, Umar Sani, disclosed this during an interactive session on Thursday with the Kano State chapter of the Nigerian Union of Journalists.

He said that the PDP was in no way opposed to the use of the card readers and wanted a free and fair election above all.

“One thing I will tell you is that PDP is not afraid of anything, not even the card readers.

“We are not afraid of the card reader. To be very honest, what we want is free and fair elections.

“We don’t want anything to go wrong through the use of the card readers.

“In Ebonyi State, the INEC commissioner there said he is going to repeat the testing and in so many other States there have been problems with the card reader, to the extent that INEC themselves have introduced an incidence form.

“That is why we are saying; let us do this thing properly.”

Also, while speaking with journalists at the residence of the Minister of Education, Ibrahim Shekarau, in Kano, the Vice President stated that the PDP would win the elections and that the party was indeed only waiting to celebrate its victory.

The Vice President has been in Kano for the past three days consulting with stakeholders concerned ahead of the upcoming polls.
