EXCLUSIVE: How Northern APC caucus will checkmate Tinubu, update on Ministers

The Northern faction of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has hatched a plot to influence President Muhammadu Buhari to send the National Chairman of the Party, Chief John Oyegun and the National Publicity Secretary, Lai Mohammed on “political exile” and checkmate the overbearing influence of the National Leader of the Party, Asiwaju Tinubu, Post Nigeria can authoritatively report.

During a brief interview in Abuja, a highly placed source in the ruling party, who pleaded anonymity, disclosed that in order to weaken the influence of their boss, Oyegun and Mohammed who were his direct appointees, have been penciled down as ambassadors, and will depart the country soon after the next National Convention where new Excos will be elected.

According to the plan, giving both men who are supposed “stooges”, ambassadorial positions especially to distant countries will loosen Tinubu’s choking grip on the party.

On June 13, 2014 Oyegun and Mohammed were elected as National Chairman and National Publicity Secretary of the APC.

The APC national leader Bola Tinubu played an important role in the emergence of both candidates, against the preferred choice of the former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar who was gunning for Chief Tom Ikimi.

Our source explained that the Northern caucus wants to prove to Tinubu that the party does not belong to him.

“The North is livid that Tinubu wants to portray himself as the alpha and omega of a party that has the sitting President,” he stated.

Tinubu who played a prominent role in the merger that led to the formation of the APC, the rebranding of the former dictator from the supposed extremist Nigerians saw him as, to the eventual emergence of Buhari as the 6th Executive President of Nigeria, had also picked Professor Yemi Osinbajo as the Vice-President.

In order to get hold of the legislature, Tinubu had allegedly imposed his candidate Senator Ahmed Lawan and Honourable Femi Gbajabiamila as Senate President and Speaker of the House of Representatives respectively.

The present political scenario and the outcome of the results of the election of leaders of the National Assembly showed a deep-seated hatred for Asiwaju Tinubu.

Against all predictions of a possible neck-to-neck contest between Saraki and Ahmed Lawan, the anti-Tinubu group played a smart one on him to install Saraki.

According to our APC source, “This party is bigger than any one man; Tinubu can get busy controlling his South-west group.

“We know that Saraki’s election pained (hurt) him the most.”

“It had been agreed long before the election, that the North-central will produce the Senate President, all of a sudden he wants to change that.

“Mr. President is the leader of the party, not him. He must learn that.”

Ministers List
On the matter of the delay appointment of ministers by the administration, the source said “The President wanted to sort out all these Boko Haram issues before releasing a list of ministers.

“The SGF will be announced by Wednesday latest.”

When quizzed if he had any idea of those who would be on the list, he said “The transition team only knew about their appointment through the media, no one knew before. That’s how his ministers list will be.”
