Fayose breaks silence on 2019 Presidential run

The Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has described as fictitious the story that was reported by some section of the media that the current Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Ali Modu Sheriff and himself are planning to jointly run for the presidency in 2019.

In an exclusive interview with Post-Nigeria on Monday, April 4, Fayose through his Special Assistant on Media and Communication, Lere Olayinka, maintained that the Ekiti state governor is “not nursing any presidential ambition with Modu Sherrif and the idea should be discarded and tossed into the waste bin.”

Recall, that on Saturday, April 2, it was widely reported that power brokers in the PDP were plotting to counter an alleged plan by Sheriff and Fayose to transmute into the party’s presidential candidates in 2019.

Reacting to the report, Olayinka said: “This is to inform the general public that the stories making round that Sheriff and Fayose are nursing presidential ambition for 2019 are bunch of lies.

“The story is fake and should be disregarded. The news was being concocted to deceive the gullible and to manipulate the minds of the public.

“In the story it was reported that Dankwambo was angry with the decision of Fayose. If he was angry as reported, why was he (Dankwambo) present in the recent wedding ceremony of Fayose’s niece in Lagos? I have posted the picture of Dankwambo and Fayose online for all to see.’’ He added.

Olayinka therefore, called on the general public not to believe the story which was concocted to cause disaffection among the rank and file of the PDP.
