FCT NSCDC graduates 173 arms personnel

In order to build up security, most especially as the upcoming polls draw nearer, the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps NSCDC, FCT Command has revealed that it has completed the training of 173 arms personnel to beef up security in the FCT.

Report from News Agency of Nigeria, stated that the Mr. David Akinbinu, the spokesman of the command made this known in an interview with news men on Friday in Abuja.

Mr. Akinbinu said that training was conducted by the armed squad unit of the command in partnership with the Nigerian Army, which was meant to ensure professionalism in the handling of arms.

He went ahead to explain that the selected personnel were particularly trained by the Nigerian Army at Sauki before they proceeded to the shooting range in Nasarawa State.

The Spokesman further revealed that the personnel were adequately trained on weapon handling, arms drills; combat craft range classification/excise and obstacle crossing training in line with international best practice.

“We have just concluded the 2014 batch three training for our arms squad and this is with a view to ensuring better security of lives and property in the FCT,’’ he said.

According to Akinbinu, Mr. Aminu Kofarsoro the FCT Command of the NSCDC warned the personnel on the need to be hardworking and avoid any case of ”accidental discharge” during the course of their duty.

He further warned that any personnel caught in any form of unethical conduct especially with arms would be properly sanctioned.

While speaking on this year upcoming general election, he assured the corps is well combat ready to provide security towards a hitch free pool.

He further called on all Nigerians to continue to collaborate with security agencies in order to curb insurgency and ensure peace and stability in the country.
