Fear Grips APC, As INEC Gives Parties Final Deadline To Submit The Names Of Their Governorship Candidates, Ahead Of The Ekiti Guber Election

Political parties vying for the Governorship position in the July 14, 2018 election in Ekiti State, have been given till Monday, May 15, to submit the names of their candidates and running mates.

The deadline was made known by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to the National Organising Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Col. Austin Akobundu, in Abuja.

Akobundu made it known when he handed over the nomination form to the Ekiti PDP Governorship candidate, Professor Kolapo Olusola, in Abuja.

“The Independent National Electoral Commission has given us May 15 deadline, within which all the political parties must submit the names of their Governorship candidates.

“Therefore, you (Olusola) must submit your form and that of your running mate to us, latest by Monday. If you do not have a running mate, I am available, please. But let the forms get to us on time as stated.”

Olusola at the event said: “I am ready and prepared to take up this challenge as the incoming Governor of Ekiti State, on the platform of the PDP.”

Meanwhile, after its last Saturday primary election was marred owing to violence, the All Progressives Congress, APC, will this Friday, conduct a fresh primary to select a Governorship candidate from the over 30 aspirants seeking for the ticket under the party’s platform.

However, there is still fear that the exercise may be marred by another violence.
