Fear Grips Pinnick, NFF, As Underground Plot To ‘Unseat’ Him Takes New Twist
It has become obvious that all is not well in the Glass House, as the plot to unseat the President of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, Amaju Pinnick, has taken a new twist.
Earlier reports, alleged that the Technical Committee Chairman, Christopher Green, was the main actor behind the plot; as he is unsatisfied with Pinnick’s move to contest the Confederation Of African Football, CAF Executive Committee election.
However, Green denied the plot when The Guardian contacted him, saying: “It is not true. Everybody knows me to be a lone ranger. I fight my battle alone, and I don’t like speculations.
“What I said all along, was that Amaju should have carried other people along in his quest to contest for the CAF Executive seat. That has been the practice.
“That was the way Sanni Lulu, Aminu Maigari, and others did it, so why should Amaju’s case be different? There is no plot to impeach him,” Green said.
Again, a member of the board who claimed anonymity and privy to the plot, insisted that, “The man (Green) is not telling you the truth.
“He actually wants Amaju removed at all cost, because he feels the President did not dance to his tune in the appointment of a Technical Adviser, for the Super Eagles.
“Green actually wanted Tom Santfiet, as against our popular choice of Garrett Rohr, for the job.
“He actually traveled to Belgium to see Santfiet, and I am sure he had a personal agreement with him.”
Meanwhile, Post-Nigeria in an attempt to unravel the truth, discovered that members of the board were unhappy with the way the NFF Boss handled his CAF move, but on the plot to unseat him, they said such move will be difficult.
A renowned Journalist, who spoke to Post-Nigeria in anonymity said, “Green is always in and out, he is very strong and can do anything. He is wiser than Pinnick, so anything is possible”
Award winning Journalist and Sports Governance Expert, Aderonke Bello, who also spoke to Post-Nigeria said, Green’s denial of the plot is not a surprise to her, just as the plot to unseat Pinnick.
She described Green as a “bad boy” in the NFF board.
“I recall him having issues with the Aminu Maigari-led NFF. It is something that could be done by him, however, Pinnick did not do well with the fact that the board sat before his interest in CAF, as it is, the NFF board is divided.
“According to feelers, board members from the North are in support of Amaju Pinnick, and if Green did not deny or tread cautiously, the board can even suspend him. It is all football politics.” they said.
