Go ahead with your threat, we won’t vote for APC – Igbos dares the Oba of Lagos

Some of the members of the Igbo’s community in Lagos State in reaction to the Oba of Lagos’ threat, have dared not to vote for the Lagos State gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Akinwumi Ambode in the forthcoming Saturday election, daring Oba Rilwan Akiolu to go ahead with his threat.

A cross section of the Igbo community who spoke to Post Nigeria on Monday via telephone interview, insisted that the Oba of Lagos cannot intimidate them to vote against their choice, stressing that Nigeria was not in the dark days of the military era.

Post Nigeria had reported that the Oba threatened all Igbo leaders and monarchs in the State, stating, he will make life “unbearable” for them if they do not ensure the emergence of the governorship candidate of All Progressives Congress, APC, Akinwunmi Ambode, as the next governor of Lagos State.

The monarch, who summoned all the Eze-Ndigbo in the State to his palace, said the support of their kinsmen for the opposition party would mean their demise within seven days.link-obaOfLAGOS.fw

“On Saturday, if anyone of you goes against Ambode, who I picked, that is your end. If it does not happen within seven days, just know that I am a bastard and it is not my father who gave birth to me.

“By the grace of God, I am the owner of Lagos for the time being. This is an undivided chair. The palace belongs to the dead and those coming in the future.

“On Saturday, if anyone of you, I swear in the name of God, goes against my wish that Ambode will be the next governor of Lagos State, the person is going to die inside this water.

In reaction, a business man known as Ikechukwu Nwosu who has lived in Lagos for 20 years, said they cannot be coerce to vote against their will.

He urged the Oba to go ahead with his threat.

Another source who spoke on the condition of anonymity said that the Igbo community will not be cowed by a frustrated Oba who knew that his candidate would lose gallantly in the forth coming governorship election.

Another source Nkechi Uche stated “whosoever want to fight against the Igbos, is trying to fight against God. We are not the only electorates in Lagos State. Why must he threaten us? Can the Oba do that to the Hausa community in Lagos?

Another source who spoke at length condemned the statements credited to the Oba of Lagos, stressing that it was “barbaric, undemocratic and uncalled for.’’

Fani kayode in reaction via facebook said, “The APC would do well to remember that they only won the presidential election by 2 million votes. The PDP got 12 million votes in that election which means that we have 12 million loyal foot soldiers and supporters in this country and that is no mean feat.”

He therefore urged the Igbos to come out in en masse on Saturday and vote for the candidates of their choice without fear of intimidation.
