Great Victory As PDP Endorses A More Experienced Northerner From Ex-President Goodluck Jonathan’s Camp For The 2019 Presidency

Days after former Kano State Governor, Ibrahim Shekarau, made his 2019 Presidential intention known, another aspirant, also from Northern extraction, Tanimu Turaki, a former Minister of Special Duties under former President, Goodluck Jonathan, has been endorsed by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to contest for the much-exalted seat of the nation’s Presidency.

Turaki, a prominent Politician from Kebbi State, got the endorsement by the Kebbi State chapter of the party.

According to the State chapter Chairman of the party, Haruna Saidu, Kebbi people are solidly behind Turaki every step of the way in his quest to rule Nigeria, as he is the first from the State to declare his intention.

Similarly, a youth group, Coalition for Good Governance, CGG, described the endorsement of Turaki as highly commendable.

The group, in a statement by its Coordinator, Vincent Michael, stated that though Turaki is yet to publicly declare his intention to run for President, his endorsement shows that he is widely accepted as the man to lead the party to reclaim power in 2019 Presidential election.

The group, therefore, urged other Nigerians to rally support around the former Minister, to unseat the current APC-led administration.

It said: “We are in a critical stage in our national development. There is no doubt that things are very bad.

“Actually, it has never been this bad. If the PDP is serious about reclaiming power, then it has to field formidable candidates with unblemished record capable of fixing Nigeria.”

Turaki was born in Nasarawa, Birnin-Kebbi, Kebbi State. He attended Nasarawa Primary School, Birnin-Kebbi 1968–1975; Barewa College Zaria, 1975–1980, Sokoto State College of Arts and Science, 1980–1982.
