I don’t know how grenades got into my bag – SS1 student pleads

A female student of Federal Government Girls College , Jalingo, Taraba State who was arrested by local vigilant security men alongside her father as they allegedly attempted to smuggle two military hand grenades concealed inside her provisions into the school premises has cried out that she does not know how the grenades got into her luggage.

The 16-year-old (whose name this newspaper will not publish) appealed to onlookers last Tuesday while fielding questions from journalists at the state police command in Jalingo, the state capital of Taraba.

The student explained that she went to the market to buy her provisions. She bought garri and kept it in the custody of her customer to enable her to buy other needed items.

Her words: ‘’ There was nothing that looked like military grenades when I was arranging those things I bought in my bag.’’

She added” When my father saw that my bag was open, he asked if I was the one who opened the bag. I told him no and he just zipped it and we all proceeded to Jalingo.’’
