I wont dignify NWC with a response, Metuh must go – Fani-Kayode

The Director of Media and Publicity of the Peoples Democratic Party’s Presidential Campaign Organization, PDPPCO, Femi Fani-Kayode has reacted to threats from the PDP National Working Committee, NWC, asking the Osun State Chapter of the party to probe him.

The PDP NWC, on Wednesday, had said that Fani-Kayode should be sanctioned for launching a media war against its leadership. The party ordered the PDP in Osun State, Fani-Kayode’s home State, to immediately investigate and punish the former Minister.

In a letter signed by its National Secretary, Wale Oladipo, the party mandated the PDP in Osun to first establish whether Mr. Fani-Kayode has been a “registered and financial member” and if he is established as a member, he should be punished severely, otherwise, he should be treated as an usurper.

Fani-Kayode, in a chat with Channels Television, has however said that the threat or order was rubbish and he would not dignify it with a response.

“The issue they addressed in their letter will be addressed by the people they wrote their letter to. I will not dignify that kind of rubbish with any kind of response,” he said.

The former Minister of Aviation said that the party leadership was trying to distract him and put him on defensive, but he would not be degraded.

He said his stance was just an echo of majority of the chieftains and member of the party, and that though he was happy with the resignation of the National Chairman, Adamu Mu’azu, it was expected that the remaining members of the NWC follow suit.

“What I am trying to tell you is that I will not be put on the defensive here. Those that need to be on the defensive are those that cheated their party members, those that lied to their party members, those that betrayed the presidential campaign organization and sought to degrade us and ensured that we couldn’t do our job.

“These are the people that have questions to answer and I am saying to you, I am reiterating a call of the overwhelming majority of party members, overwhelming number of governors, and overwhelming number of elder statesmen within the party. And that call is simply this, they should resign.

“That is the issue for us. And we are happy that Mu’azu had finally answered the call and done the honorable thing. When will Metuh do it? When will Oladipo do it? When will the rest of them do it? That is what we are waiting for.

“So it is not about Femi Fani Kayode. It is not about my record in public office. What it is about is that their time is long overdue and they need to go. And the other issue is that I stand by what we said yesterday. All the comments we made about them. Their ineptitude their greed and their cowardice and their malicious intent,” Fani-Kayode said.
