Jigawa residents laud FG’s kerosene direct scheme

Residents of Hadejia in Jigawa State today applauded the Federal Government over the introduction of the Kerosene-Direct scheme.

As earlier reported by NNPC, more than 1,500 trucks, each containing 44,000 liters of kerosene each were released for dispatch to various communities in Nigeria.

The Kerosene-Direct scheme was planned to end scarcity and enhance availability of the product in the community’s and many retail stations in Hadejia had kicked off sales of kerosene under the scheme.

News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, reports that residents of Hadejia have applauded the scheme and called for its sustainability.

Alhaji Muhammad Garba, a resident, commended the scheme, stating that it would reduce the suffering been experienced by consumers in trying to get the product.

Garba said the innovation would also shield consumers from exploitation by black market operators.

“The direct sale of kerosene will ensure availability and reduce difficulties being faced in accessing the product,

“It will also reduce reliance on fuel wood by many families and protect the environment.”

Another resident, Mukhtar Jubo, added that the scheme help families to cut spending on the product, and it would reduce high cost of the commodity.

Jubo also called for stringent measures to guide against the diversion of the product.
