The Deputy Governor of Ekiti State and Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the State’s July 14 Governorship election, Professor Kolapo Olusola Eleka, has said that he would continue with the ‘Stomach Infrastructure’ programme of the Governor Ayodele Fayose-led administration, if elected as the next Governor of the State.
The PDP Governorship Candidate, who spoke in Ado-Ekiti, while unfolding his manifesto, tagged: ‘SHIELD’, to Journalists, however, stated that his own version of the programme would go beyond “mere giving out bags of rice, or clothing material.”
He revealed that the programme would be redesigned to include making youths gainfully employed, empowering the poor, and welfare of the underprivileged in the society.
He further disclosed that his administration would place priority on social welfare and sustainable human capital development, healthcare delivery, infrastructure and industrial development, education, all-inclusive leadership and governance, as well as the development of agriculture and tourism.
Olusola, while promising adequate security, added that no government could attain development without adequate security.
Under his healthcare programme, the PDP candidate decried that most of the Healthcare Centres in the State, especially at the rural areas, are in bad shape, promising to equip them to make them functional.
He said: “Most of the Health Centres are not in good condition, especially in the hinterlands. Most of the Healthcare Centres are in a dilapidated condition; equipping them will be my priority. He also promised to establish cottage Hospitals and upgrade some of the equipment at Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital, Ado Ekiti.”
