JUST IN: Great Victory For Kachikwu As Buhari Publicly Humiliates And Dumps Amaechi

Despite the opposition from the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, President Muhammadu Buhari, has endorsed the take-off of the Nigeria Maritime Universities at Oron, Akwa Ibom State; and Okerenkoko in Delta State.

Recall, that Amaechi and the Minister of State for Petroleum, Ibe Kachikwu, had openly disagreed last year on the agitation for the creation of Maritime Universities, in the Niger Delta region.

While Ameachi had insisted that there was no money to fund such Universities, Kachikwu disagreed, saying he would not mind funding them from his Ministry’s allocations, if Amaechi refused to do so.

Post-Nigeria learnt that after due consideration, Buhari decided to disregard the idea of Amaechi, who during the 2015 General Election, served as the Director-General of the APC’s Presidential Campaign, by endorsing the Maritime University proposed by Kachikwu.

This came as the Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta, Brig. Gen. Paul Boroh, who commended Buhari for the gesture, said the President also directed that everything should be done to ensure that the Nigeria Maritime University commenced operations in the next academic year.

Boroh, said the visit of the Vice President, Yemi Osibanjo, to the Niger Delta, offered serious opportunities for peace and development in the oil-rich region.

Boroh’s comments were contained in a message sent to Journalists, by the Media and Communication Consultant of Presidential Amnesty Programme, Owei Lakemfa, on Wednesday.

He called on the National Assembly to pass the Nigeria Maritime University Bill, to ensure that the scheduled date for the take-off of the University was met.

Recall also, that the he bill had passed Second Reading, and was sponsored by Senators Nelson Effiong (Akwa Ibom South), and James Manager (Delta South), respectively.

Effiong’s Bill seeks to upgrade the existing Maritime Academy of Nigeria, MAN, Oron to a University, while that of Manager seeks to establish a Maritime University in Okerenkoko.
