LATEST FASHION TREND: Checkout This Very Stylish Way To Dress And Standout At A Nigerian Wedding, By Ifeanyi Okafor Jr.

Every weekend in Nigeria, a wedding takes place. Wedding ceremonies in Nigeria are a big deal, so everyone puts in a lot of effort to look their best.

A constant at every Nigerian wedding, is the ‘Agbada’.

The Agbada is the Yoruba name for a flowing robe worn by men in Western Africa, especially in Nigeria. It is also called babban riga by the Hausa people.

It is decorated with intricate embroidery, and worn on special occasions, such as weddings, funerals, etc.

It is a full formal attire made of three pieces of clothing; a pair of tie-up trousers, a long-sleeved shirt, and a wide open-stitched sleeveless gown worn over these.

My Agbada is made from linen. It is a bit heavy, but I love how it flows.

I am styling it with a hat, which is a type of soft fez. It is a traditional Yoruba hat, which can be made of hand woven aso-oke, cotton, velvet, or damask. It is called Fila by the Yoruba people. The one I have on is made from aso-oke.

I have accessorized with some gold neck chains and cuff-links, scored from Asos.

What do you think of my outfit?
