Police in Abuja shoot and kill 2 black marketers

The scene at the popular Banex Plaza in Wuse 2, Abuja, on Wednesday night was chaos, as illegal petrol marketers, popularly called “black market,” clashed with members of Abuja Task Force and the Nigerian Police.

Arriving at the scene, Post Nigeria’s correspondents met chaos with tires burning, people and cars fleeing.

Our correspondents gathered from eyewitnesses that the Task Force of the Abuja Environmental Protection Board, AEPB, accompanied by the Police, came to arrest and seize petrol from the black market sellers, but met resistance.

The ensuing tussle reportedly left two persons dead.

“They killed two people. The guys (black market sellers) say dem no go gree,” two panting girls told our correspondents.

Confirming the reports, our correspondents saw a dead body with intestines spilled on the ground, surrounded by close to twenty men from the Nigerian Police.

Efforts to take a picture and get a comment from the police were thwarted, as our correspondents inquiries were met with unfriendly responses.
