President Buhari Gives The South-East Very ‘Tough Condition’ For The 2023 Presidential Ticket To Be Handed To The Region, As Okorocha, Ganduje, Oshiomhole, Others, Concur

President Muhammadu Buhari, on Tuesday, told Igbo Leaders and South-East Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress, APC, that the 2023 Presidency is now negotiable.

Buhari urged them to vote for him in the 2019 Presidential election, so as to negotiate from a position of strength in 2023.

He said that only a victory for APC, would guarantee the Igbos a bright political future in 2023.

The President spoke in Owerri, the Imo State capital, at a mega rally organised for him by Stakeholders of the party in the South-East.

Buhari, who was represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Mr. Boss Mustapha, enjoined the Ndigbo to navigate their way into the centre of national politics, by supporting the APC in 2019.

“2023 Nigeria’s Presidency is now negotiable, and only those strong enough can negotiate well; so the Igbos can use their numerical strength in 2019, to ensure a brighter political future in the next election.

“What happens in 2019, will go a long way to determine the fate of the Igbo nation, as it concerns the 2023 Presidency. So it is important that they put away party sentiments, in the overall interest of the Igbo nation, and ensure that the APC gets a landslide victory in the South-East.”

Buhari, who said that Ndigbo were noted for their political sagacity, asked them not to lag behind in 2019, adding that, the Igbo Presidency in 2023 would be possible, if the Ndigbo could invest the same skills and determination they deployed in the business sector.

Elsewhere, the Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, said that what President Buhari is doing in the South-East, had endeared his administration to the people.

“What we are celebrating here is the leadership of President Buhari. It is true that the Igbos made a mistake in 2015, but the Igbos believe in Buhari for 2019, and the Igbos are ardent followers.”

Also, Kano State Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, in his speech revealed that: “With what I have seen today, it is clear that the Igbos have made a U-turn in politics, and they are now in the centre of politics in Nigeria. I am impressed with the massive support for the APC and Mr. President.”

The newly elected National Chairman of the party, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, disclosed: “I am left with no doubt that the APC has taken over the South-East, and our opponents will not sleep today in Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, and Abia, over what is happening here today.”

Among those at the rally were the former Governors of Bayelsa State, Timipre Silva; Borno, Ali Modu-Sheriff; and members of the National Working Committee, NWC, of the party, among others.
