President Jonathan meets with Buhari, signs another peace accord

President Goodluck Jonathan and the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, General Muhammadu Buhari have pledged to accept the outcome of the presidential poll after a closed door meeting held on Thursday morning in Abuja.

The meeting initiated by the National Peace Committee for the 2015 General Elections, led by General Abdusalami Abubakar (retd.), is meant to haul out commitment from the leading candidates that the forthcoming elections will be violence-free.

The two candidates agreed to sign another peace accord at the end of the meeting, following the peace pact they both signed alongside other presidential candidates in January.

The agreement signing ceremony held at Transcorp Hilton Hotel and the presidential candidates were accompanied to the venue by the national chairmen of their parties: Adamu Mu’azu, PDP, and John Oyegun, APC.

The President had on Wednesday met with Gen Abdulsalami, the Sultan of Sokoto, Mohammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, and had stated that he was willing to sign another peace accord with Buhari to emphasis his commitment to free and credible presidential polls.
