Report indicts APC Chieftains over bloody Rivers killings

The Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has on Friday, May 20, claimed that the party has been vindicated by the reported arrest of the son of the Deputy Chairman, Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Peter Odike, over killings in the state.

In a press release by the PDP, the party applauded the Military for its efforts, stressing that its position that leaders of the APC are sponsors of violence and criminality, has been justified.

The suspect confessed that he was supported by his father, Odike, the APC Rivers Deputy Chairman, which the PDP described as “unpatriotic, shameful, wicked and a serious embarrassment to the state.”

The PDP said, “the arrest of Mr. Odike’s son, did not come as a shock and that his reported confession to the crimes would make it easier and quicker for the process of investigation and prosecution by the Army and the relevant security authorities to be concluded.”

Meanwhile, both parties have been at loggerhead and trading blames since the expiration of the tenure of the former governor, Rotimi Amaechi, with several clashes and deaths recorded.

The PDP alleged that security agencies are aware of its consistent alerts to the fact that some APC chieftains are creating an insecure atmosphere in the state.
