Supreme Court Justices to face sack over Rivers judgment

Sequel to the All Progressive Congress, APC, unimaginable defeat at the Supreme Court, the National Chairman of the party, Chief John Oyegun, has called for the investigation of the Apex Court Judges, over the victories of the opposition parties in the election petitions.

Oyegun made this known after suffering yet another defeat as the Supreme Court cancelled the verdict of the Appeal Court, which upheld the petition of Umana Okon Umana, candidate of the APC in Akwa Ibom state.

The apex court in its judgment upheld the elections of Governor, Udom Emmanuel of Akwa ibom State and Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State, both of the PDP.

It would be recalled that the Supreme Court in its earlier judgment had affirmed the election of Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, a move which sent shock waves to APC big weights. This came after the Tribunal and the Appeal Court had favored the candidate of the APC, Dakuku Peterside.

Other PDP governors who were vindicated at the Supreme Court were the Ebonyi state Governor, Dave Umahi and Governor Ibrahim Dankwambo, of Gombe State.

Reacting to the APC’s disappointing outing, Oyegun during a meeting with party members from Rivers state, maintained that there was “something fundamentally wrong in the judiciary.”

He however promised to approach President Muhammadu Buhari, in order to address the controversies.

“The APC National leadership has not neglected party leaders and supporters in Rivers State. The state has always been in the front burner of discussion and decision in the party.

“There is obviously something fundamentally wrong in Rivers State which needs to be investigated and addressed.

“As of today, there is an attempt being made by INEC to bar us from elections in Anambra and other states.

“We must address these issues. I still find the judgment on the Rivers State governorship election totally astonishing. There is something fundamentally wrong in the judiciary.

“We have lost very important resource-rich states to the PDP. No matter how crude oil prices have fallen, it is still the most important revenue earner for the country.

Speaking further he said, “I will take up your request to facilitate a meeting with the President.

“We will do that as soon as possible and also make it clear that there are problems which as a party, we must address.
