Tony Anenih resigns as PDP BoT chair

The chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Tony Anenih has tendered a letter of  resignation to the National Working Committee, NWC, of the party.

While accepting the letter, the NWC noted Mr. Anenih’s outstanding contributions to the party over the years especially as the chairman of the BoT.

“As one of the founding fathers of the PDP, the NWC appreciates Chief Anenih’s guiding role in the party in the last 16 years and wish him well in his future endeavours,” the party said, late Wednesday.

The party in a statement by its national secretary, Wale Oladipo, also said “consequent upon the resignation, the Secretary of the Board of Trustees, Senator Walid Jibrin holds forth pending the election of a new BoT Chairman”.

Chief Anenih resigned “on personal grounds”.The PDP has suffered a spate of setbacks since losing the presidential elections to the All Progressives Congress, APC, with some members outrightly abandoning the party to join the APC.

Adamu Mu’azu, former national chairman, resigned earlier, Wednesday.

Anenih’s resignation was believed to be imminent, as Post Nigeria reported earlier today.
