Uduaghan commissions 447m Effurum Flyover Bridge

Delta State Governor Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan has commissioned a 447 meter Flyover Bridge in Effurun, Uwvie Local Government Area, stating that the bridge would ease traffic congestion at the Effurun Roundabout and add beauty to the city.

Commissioning the project over the weekend, Uduaghan pointed out that the bridge was the second to be commissioned in the State within the last one week.

He explained that the bridge is part of the State Government’s urban renewal programme geared towards improving traffic flow in the State, and adding beauty to major towns in the State.

Uduaghan said the project was accomplished within twenty months to prove naysayers who were saying that the project would be abandoned wrong.

The Governor however assured the people that more projects aimed at improving the socio-economic lives of the people will be executed.

He used the medium to appeal to motorists and all beneficiaries of the bridge to be careful while using the bridge, warning criminal elements not to disfigure the bridge or turn it into a criminals’ den as security agents would be placed on red alert.

Commenting on the gubernatorial polls, he thanked the citizens of the State for electing Senator Ifeanyi Okowa as Governor, adding that their peaceful co-ordination during and after the polls was highly patriotic.

Funkekeme Solomon, the Commissioner for Works, in his remarks explained that the project comprised a 126 meter long six span bridge; two ramps of 150 meters and 127 metres at the Sapele and Effurun approaches; and a 1, 721 metres road stretch.

He added that the bridge and ramp structure consists of four-lane dual carriage way with two lanes on each travel direction differentiated with a barrier.
