We assure you of violence-free elections – Lagos Police

The Lagos State Command of the Nigeria Police Force on Thursday assured the residents of the state of violence-free elections in February.

This assertion was made by the command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Kenneth Nwosu, in Lagos. He said the police was ready for the elections.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Mr Kayode Aderanti, earlier had met with Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers in preparation for the elections, adding that lagosians should be calm and stay away from violence.

Aderanti said, “You know this election has been fixed over a period of time and the police, even before this time has started preparations.

“The Nigeria Police Force, Lagos State Command, is adequately prepared for the elections.

“We are prepared to provide pro-active and adequate policing before, during and after the elections and even beyond.”

Nwosu maintained that the Police should be trusted in ensuring transparent and violence-free elections. He added that the command was working hard to protect lives and property and rid Lagos State of crime.

“So, Lagosians should be relaxed that the police is prepared to ensure that this coming election will not be only free, fair and credible but also transparent and violence-free.” he said.

Assistant Inspector General of Police, Mr. Joseph Mbu, has been deployed as AIG in charge of Zone 2 comprising Lagos and Ogun States.

Mbu was the former Commissioner of Police for Rivers State.
