We support @ThisisBuhari and @AsiwajuTinubu, even if they are proven as thieves – @APCNigeria

The All Progressives Congress, APC, has emphatically stated that even if the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, provides video evidence showing its National Leader, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and its Presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari, engaging in corrupt practices, they (meaning APC and its supporters) will still fully back them.

The party, it seems, was responding to recent controversies trailing both Tinubu and Buhari concerning corrupt practices, as depicted in a documentary aired on Africa Independent Television, AIT.

The party took to its official Twitter handle @APCNigeria on Thursday to say that even if PDP provides a video of Buhari and Tinubu stealing from the bank, they would still support him.

“Even if PDP shows a video of Tinubu and Buhari on AIT robbing the Central Bank of Nigeria, it won’t change our minds. Too late – Ibadin,” – @APCNigeria by 9:21 AM – 5 Mar 2015

This seems to be a callous statement to emanate from a party whose campaign platform and only selling point of their candidate is “anti-corruption.”

The post has naturally elicited displeasure and disappointment from Nigerians.

A prominent response was from Mukhtar Alexander Dan’Iyan popularly known as Aye Dee, the Niger-State born UK-based Nigerian political analyst/social media expert, who replied the tweet;

“APC finally reveals what we all know, their leaders are thieves… #NigeriaDecides #TinubuOle” – @MrAyeDee by 9:04 AM – 6 Mar 2015

Social media as a whole, and twitter in particular, has been largely responsible for raising the awareness young Nigerians have about leadership and politics.

On March 4 2015, the National chairman of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, took to twitter as he had done recently, to state clearly that he never said the opposition was responsible for the recent fuel scarcity.
