Angry Buhari walks out on Chibok parents

President Muhammadu Buhari, during a meeting with parents of the abducted Chibok girls on Thursday 14 January, 2016 was reported to have stormed out angrily from the banquet hall of the Villa in a commando style, unleashing stern warnings and leaving the parents without any trace of remorse.

Earlier in the meeting, the former Minister of Education and leader of the Bring Back Our Girls, BBOG, advocacy group, Oby Ezekwesili, took on the Minister of Women Affairs, Hajia Aisha Alhassan, who had earlier insisted that the group would not be allowed to see the president.

This was after Hajia Alhassan faulted the parents and members of the group for not giving the government ample notice before their arrival.

In reaction, Ezekwesili took on the minister angrily and reprimanded her:

“I don’t understand why you can be chiding the parents and the movement. These parents were triggered by the words of the President who promised to rescue their daughters,” Ezekwesili blurted out.

Buhari in his inaugural speech on May 29, 2015 had dropped a hint: “But we cannot claim to have defeated Boko Haram without rescuing the Chibok girls and all other innocent persons held hostage by insurgents.”

The scheduled visit came barely few weeks after Buhari through the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, declared that Nigeria had “technically won the war” against Boko Haram.

The movement alongside parents of the abducted Chibok girls on Thursday stormed the presidential villa demanding for an explanation on the rescue of the abducted girls.

Meanwhile, Buhari had in his maiden Media Chat, disclosed that his government had no intelligence on the whereabouts of the school girls.
He promised to negotiate if there was a credible Boko Haram leadership, and if there is evidence showing the girls are alive.

Reacting to the fiasco, memebers of the BBOG group have condemned the show of executive rascality as exhibited by Buhari and his ministers during the meeting.
