APC emphasize “Baboon and Dog soaked in blood” threat

Buhari and the All Progressives Congress, APC, seem to be gearing up to deliver on Buhari’s cryptic 2011 threat that “the Baboon and the Dog would all be soaked in blood”, as a recent APC rally featured a baboon clad in a Peoples Democratic Party, PDP attire.

The act that has not gone down well with PDP supporters and many Nigerians because it is perceived to be an overt reminder of the threat of post-election violence, to be instigated by General Buhari and carried out by his violence-prone supporters.

It is no news that the General had threatened fire and brimstone if the February elections do not end favorably for him.

“God willing, by 2015, something will happen. They either conduct a free and fair election or they go a very disgraceful way. If what happened in 2011 (alleged rigging) should again happen in 2015, by the grace of God, the dog and the baboon would all be soaked in blood.’’

The introduction of the Baboon was in direct contrast with a statement issued by APC’s Lai Mohammed urging PDP to desist from muckraking and focus on an issue based campaign.

In some quarters of the country, the move has been considered a reminder of the threat on post-election tranquility by General Buhari.

Already, political commentators have continued to lambast the party for their actions, calling on security forces to take the subliminal messages of the APC, more seriously.
